After School Programs

Unless otherwise designated, all programs are $4.00 for members, $5.00 for nonmembers and will be held at the museum.  Please register with the museum, not your school or library. You can print this page to mail with your check.

Wednesday
October 1:
 3:30 – 4:30

Planting Shellfish: with Marion Shellfish Officer Isaac Perry.  It’s low tide so let’s do some digging and help renew our shellfish beds. We’ll be examining clams and oysters and then burying them in the mud  so bring your boots and feel free to bring rakes if you have them.

Marine Mammal Stranding: what do you do if you see a seal, whale or dolphin on the beach? Who do you call? Through the use of nets and a slide show the Cape Cod Stranding Network will be help us learn a little about how they are working to help these amazing creatures and what YOU can do to help them.

Cute as a Kitten: Cat Enthusiast Judie Kleven will be talking about the many cat rescues that she has been involved with over the years.  She will also be bringing in her new kittens to be learned about and played with.

Let’s look at DIRT with Elizabeth Leidhold: what does the world below our feet look like? Is it all one color, or many? What is it made of? Let’s look at soils up close and personal! We will be making our own soil profile to bring home. Warning: you WILL get dirty so remember to dress appropriately!

Introduction to the Planets with Dave Pierce. We will be looking at slides and examining the museum’s telescopes to help us locate some of these wonders of the night sky.

Saltwater Fish and their habitats – with Vinnie Malkoski. Vinnie works for the Department of Marine Fisheries and is an avid diver. He will share his slides of the many fish that call this area home.

Annual Holiday Party! Let’s celebrate the season with free junk food and crafts. Enough said.

There are some changes this year, so please read carefully:

 All programs will be held from 3:30 to 4:30.
Cost is $4.00 for members and $6.00 for nonmembers (except for the Holiday party which is free).
And, please note: This year all of our programs will be held on Wednesday afternoons.
